Kayleb is a New Zealand native who has lots of pride in the country, saying that the environment and the beauty inspires him constantly during his songwriting process.
Kayleb has been playing guitar since he was a kid and, after being in a band in 2019-2020, he started his own project entitled The Tiz.
The Tiz is a rock and roll DIY project that Kayleb has been recording in his room during the later half of 2020 and early into 2021. With minimal equipment yet a defined sound, The Tiz embodies the hard working stereotype of an artist recording out of a home studio!
He has his first single coming out on February 19th, 2020 entitled “Jamaican Rum”. “Jamaican
Rum” is a fun, fast-paced hillbilly-esque song that is certain to make you smile! The Tiz explained to me that his writing process goes as follows: He takes his guitar and treks into the forest. Once there, he will take his phone and record a series of demos of him singing and playing the guitar. On a walk a day later, he will listen to each of the voice memos and pick and choose which ones to workshop.
When I asked him where else he finds inspiration he said, “There is a hill behind my house that has some cows on it”. Kayleb has his process down and in turn makes some awesome music that can be easily enjoyed by all! Be on the lookout for the music video for “Jamaican Rum”; coming very soon, as well!
