I got the opportunity to speak with Australian EDM artist, Nicky NightTime and collaborator, Ali Love about their latest single Ubiquity, a 70s disco inspired electronica track. With this track, they also collaborated with Breakbot, the project of french producer Thibaut Berland and vocalist Irfane. Breakbot blends elements of funk, house, and disco into their work.
The artists discussed their various influences as well as possible gaming collaborations in the future, both expressing a deep interest in collaborating with Grand Theft Auto.
One of the most interesting parts of the interview was when we discussed how EDM music was made, in which Nicky talked about the chicken and egg dichotomy in the context of EDM songwriting: which comes first, the beat or the melody/vocal line?
Both Artists were rather secretive about their upcoming projects but seem to be very eager to get back to DJ-ing at nightclubs once the pandemic subsides, so be sure to keep an eye out on their social media to hear the latest updates.
Check out their discographies, including the single Ubiquity, on various music platforms. Nicky NightTime can be found on Spotify and Apple Music, while Ali Love can also be found on Spotify and Apple Music.
