Native of San Diego, California, Rad Cat is a first generation Mexican American DJ and producer who began to feel a strong connection to music at the young age of 12. He is known for his numerous tracks that have garnered millions of streams on Spotify.
This January, I was able to meet with Rad Cat to talk about his career to date, including the release of his latest single “Diamond”, featuring the vocalist Gloria Kim. He has several remix credits with artists such as Enrique Iglesias, Kevin Gates, Mike Posner, blackbear, and T-Pain, among others. One of these remixes, blackbear’s “the 1”, was one of the tracks featured after the interview.
Presently, the remix has over 2 million streams on Spotify. During the interview, we talked about how he began to work with blackbear. The “do re mi” artist had listened to one of Rad Cat’s remixes online, and the two artists soon connected.
Rad Cat and I also discussed other various topics, including which artists he would collaborate with, the evolution of his work, and his best performances so far.
