On January 22 2021, representatives from the DePaul Esports Rocket League, Overwatch, and Smash Bros. teams spoke about their communities on the DePaul Half Hour.
All three guests on this episode are student leaders from the DePaul Esports community and a varsity player on their respective teams. Alex Rodriguez from Rocket League, Tomasz Zdanowski from Overwatch and the FPS community, and Matthew Buerckholtz from Smash Bros. talk about their experiences playing their respective games, the practice required to keep their skills honed, and what drew them to the competitive scene.
While the competitive scene is a huge aspect of the DePaul gaming community, they also spoke about the casual events that anyone at DePaul can be a part of. Among Us lobbies, Jackbox sessions, community nights, and Esports watching parties are among the few that various groups have hosted in the past.
You can join the general Esports discord using https://discord.gg/depaulesports. From there you can find the Discords for all the different gaming communities and learn more about the opportunities that each one offers. DePaul Esports can also be found on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook where they share event announcements, updates about collegiate matches, and other competitive related information.
