One word comes to mind when describing Kat Meoz’s music; unapologetic. Her gritty pop rock sound accompanies her powerful voice in a way that makes you want to drop everything and listen to what she has to say.
Kat’s love for music flourished during a summer program at the New School in New York City where she fine tuned her guitar and singing skills. Shortly after, she began recording music in college and says she got “bit by the bug.” Kat then moved to California and has been devoted to her music ever since.
Chances are you’ve heard Kat’s music, as it has been featured everywhere from shows like The Bold Type and Selling Sunset to ads for Pepsi and NCIS. Her music also frequently pops up on MTV.
“That’s the real payoff, to hear or see it match to someone’s project or ad because it’s a really good feeling that someone wanted to collaborate with me. It’s just nice that they feel my music is the perfect soundtrack for whatever it is they’re trying to sell. It’s definitely a compliment,” says Kat.
When asked how she describes her sound, Kat answered with a simple, “I release songs that I just love.” What more can you ask for from an artist? The authenticity of Kat’s music definitely speaks for itself, especially in her new single, Reason.
Kat describes Reason as her “heart’s cry”. And after a year of tragedy and quarantine, it is something almost everyone can relate to. Reason is her telling the universe to give her a purpose amidst all the chaos of the world. Kat remains optimistic and hopeful, saying she truly believes that there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel.
Kat is planning to release a full length album on April 23, but Reason is available now for streaming on all platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, and SoundCloud on two accounts).
