On February 26, 2021, representatives from DePaul Women in Business, Healthy Credit, and DePaul Theatre Union spoke about their organizations on the DePaul Half Hour.
DePaul Women in Business introduces their members to all types of career opportunities in the business field. Their events include bringing in professional speakers, holding professional career events, and social events that promote mental health and networking within their group. Each quarter they host their Quarterly Mingle, where members can learn about and network with 9-10 different firms. They also bring in students and alum from the DePaul community during their Career Exploration event to talk about their majors and introduce their members to a variety of career opportunities. Previous speakers and guests have included Allstate, KPMG, Ernst & Young, and United. You can find DePaul Women in Business on DeHub, Facebook, and Instagram. Email them at depaulwib@gmail.com to find out more about their application process. They are open to applicants year-round, and invite everyone to take advantage of their resources regardless of gender identity.
Healthy Credit, run by DePaul law student Natisha McAdams, is a credit repair service made to help students learn how to repair and improve their credit score. McAdams originally started this service to help her family and friends remove negative items off of their credit report, which includes closed off accounts, student loans, and bankruptcy. After starting Healthy Credit over a year ago, she has worked with over 500 clients and offers her services for little to no cost. She shared some ways to improve credit scores, including choosing the right credit card, ideal and maximum credit usage, budgeting, and paying off smaller credit amounts first. You can reach out to her on her Healthy Credit Instagram and also on her personal Instagram.
DePaul Theatre Union (DTU) is a student run organization dedicated to providing accessible theatre making opportunities to any and all majors at DePaul University. They typically put on one large show a year. In 2020 they put on the show Our Town, written by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Thorton Wilder and directed by DTU President Maddi Smith. Since the start of the pandemic, they have been holding online cabertes, 24-hour playfests, and theatre writing groups. This year they want to focus on online adaptations of shows, called Scrambles. They did a Shakespeare Scramble for Valentine’s Day, and are currently working on a Macbeth Scramble to be put on in Spring Quarter. DTU holds yearly student board elections, where students can get involved in the management of the club. More commonly, they are looking for students to apply for positions for their productions. These include positions for directing, writing, acting, teching, and video editing. Look out for their show applications on their social media. You can contact DTU on DeHub, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, their website, through their email: depaultheatreunion@gmail.com, and join their Discord.
About: The DePaul Half Hour is a show that interviews organizations in and around DePaul and we have them discuss what they can do for DePaul students as well as what they can do for the surrounding community. Tune in every Friday from 12:30pm to 1:00pm to be the first to listen to these shows on radiodepaul.com.
