On January 15, 2021, representatives from CHAARG, DePaul Net Impact, and Alpha Psi Lamba spoke about their organizations on the DePaul Half Hour.
CHAARG (Changing Health Attitudes and Actions to Recreate Girls) is a national woman’s fitness organization. It was first founded at The Ohio State University in 2012 and came to DePaul in 2014. CHAARG aims to make exercise motivating and fun for college women, focusing on community building and engaging in body positivity, self love, and mental health practices. This year, DePaul CHAARG’s ambassador, Olivia Moosey, relaunched the program to accommodate a virtual setting and they are now operating completely remotely. Each week, the members of DePaul CHAARG participate in a group workout led by Chicago local fitness studios. At CHAARG, members will get to explore a variety of fitness styles, surround themselves with motivated and like-minded women, and engage in fun workouts. To learn more about DePaul CHAARG, you can reach out to the chapter’s Instagram, Olivia’s Instagram, at depaulchaarg@gmail.com, and on the official DePaul CHAARG webpage.
DePaul Net Impact is a chapter of the national not-for-profit organization, Net Impact, focused on sustainability in the workplace and introducing students to social impact careers and opportunities. They provide education, resources, and host events for learning and career help. They came to DePaul in Spring 2020 and have hosted open hours events when students can speak with professionals, ask them questions, and learn about sustainability, what it means, and how students themselves can have an impact. They have also hosted a larger networking event with 10-11 professionals who spoke with students in breakout rooms via Zoom. If you are interested in creating a positive impact, environmental, and social change in your community, DePaul Net Impact is here to support you. You can find DePaul Net Impact on DeHub and LinkedIn. You can reach out to them at depaulnetimpact@gmail.com, register for events here, and access their resource folder here.
Alpha Psi Lambda is a co-ed latino interest fraternity originally founded in 1985 at The Ohio State University. DePaul is home to the Iota chapter of Alpha Psi Lambda. Their organization invites all members of the community, regardless of gender, race, or sexual orientation, to become part of their familia where they focus on education, leadership, cultural awareness, and community service. Some of their recent events include a virtual latino trivia night, a snowman painting party, a holiday dinner, and a “Learn and Share” workshop. Their next “Learn and Share” workshop will be held on February 4th at 4:00pm CST and will be about being bilingual, bilingualism in the United States, what it means, and how it helps you professionally. They also offer study sessions every Sunday from 12:00-2:00pm CST where students spend time on Zoom and do their homework together: the library without the library. Alpha Psi Lambda’s events are open to anyone in the DePaul community and they are always looking to collaborate with other student groups and organizations. You can reach out to Alpha Psi Lambda on Instagram, Facebook, and at apsiiotachapter@gmail.com.
