About
“World Music” as a term has always confused me. What links together Chinese Emo and Javanese folk music? Nigerian funk and Indian pop? Playing distinct traditions and voices next to one another unfairly groups them together as a non-western jumble. This show’s project is to explore these voices and traditions one by one not all together. Place by place and time by time, this show will respect the individuality and distinctness of each scene.
